sunday, sunday....

We have had a few sickies here, which on Sunday translates to...
VACATION FROM CHURCH DAY!!
Chase (one of the ill folk) was NOT happy about this news - he loves church and looks forward to it every week (a true angel)! To make him happy I let him pick out his clothes - but he took it a step farther...

first he brought me his tie - then his church shoes - then his necklace - then his church socks! Then he said he was ready to go. I told him he still wasn't going - this is how he responded...about this same time, Wesley (who is not a church loving angel) came down with a really wicked case of the (fake) hiccups and informed me that he would have to stay home too!

here he is, telling Chase, in his high pitch sweet voice that he would help take care of him!

Chase is thrilled about this news! almost as happy as me!

Wesley was informed that all sick people that were staying home (including me) were taking a LONG nap - he agreed - all was settled! Surprise, surprise - guess who DIDN'T get a nap?? For over 2 hours, Chase sat in his crib repeating over and over "I need to go to church" - Wesley came in my room about every 15 minutes asking if he took a long nap yet - maybe church is easier than a "Sunday vacation"?! One last photo (and a good reminder of why we go to church every week)...

I am not quite sure if this is a sweet little boy who got into his moms purse or if he saw too many stories about Britney on Extra?? Either way, we will be sure to make it next week!

thankful for this day...

We LOVE going to Bill's grandparents on Thanksgiving. Not only do we get to visit with Grandpa and Grandma Great, we also get to play on their 113 acre farm, filled with tractors, animals, old houses, hay to climb, paths to explore and places to hide...pretty much a young boys dream! Not many of us made it this year, but what we lacked in family we made up for in weather. It was a beautiful, cloudy (beware, many pictures ahead) day! I am thankful for this crew! the boys with their sweet niece, Mariana!

Every year Bill is very anal dedicated to watching the turkey fry - he won't leave its side! I am glad it was a nice day so he didn't have to freeze (as he has in the past!)! This was his best turkey yet!! (and as you can see, there was time to play afterwards)

I had so much fun following the boys around with my camera - I love old stuff and am always excited about the "treasures" I can find on the farm!Cameron played with sticks most of the time we where there - and hardly got in trouble (that's what acres and acres give you - space - and much better odds of staying out of trouble - or at least not getting caught!)Reagan was my photo scout. Every 10 minutes he had found another place I could take a picture of him - both of these were his idea (and many many more)!I don't know if you noticed Wesley in the previous pictures - he was a picture PILL today! He ruined many a great group shots with his silly faces and crossed eyes. He couldn't quit laughing after he saw them downloaded (he thinks he is funnier than he really is!)Last Thanksgiving Chase still couldn't walk - this year, he didn't want to come back inside. He loved running in the fields and looking at all the "blue berries" (known to most as goat poop). This little chair he is sitting on is one of the treasures I found - Bill wouldn't let me bring it home (might have to head back up without him!).
We are so lucky to be surrounded by family and to spend precious time with them. I hope you all had as good of a day as we did! Happy Thanksgiving!

last one, I swear...

I realize I have been a little Cameron post crazy - but I have one more
(he has been busy!!). Yesterday we went to the Reflections assembly at the boys school where Cameron was presented with a trophy for winning in the Photography category. (note to self ... help Cameron pick out his clothes next time he is being
presented with an award in front of many people!)

He was really surprised and excited to have won. He didn't really care about entering anything into Reflections to begin with (but I made him, because it gets him one step closer to getting the Distinguished Cub Award at the end of the year - where's the thank you now? huh?)!
His brothers were in the audience cheering for him...Reagan and his buddy "J"
he really was happy for him - really!
Wesley and his friend "C"
he was happy until he saw Cameron walk away with a trophy and realized he wasn't getting one - this was a learning experience for Wes!
(Wesley, along with everyone else - like 450 entries - received a certificate, a few coupons and a zipper pull thing that he thinks is really cool!). This is the picture that Cameron entered. The theme this year is "WOW" - he titled his collage "things that spell out WOW on my way to school"!

surprise party...

On Sunday we had a surprise birthday party for Cameron. By "we" I don't mean Bill and I - we cancelled the Sunday (Miller) family party that morning because we had pukey kids. Bill's family, however, didn't know about the pukey kids and showed up at the door right in time for dessert! We made Renata and her little baby go home, but was glad to welcome everyone else (in a enter at your own risk sort of way). Cameron was so excited (and I was pretty happy to be able to get rid of the cake)!
Cameron's 11 favorite things about his birthday...
(I would say, "in no particular order" BUT this is the order he said them in
and he was pretty stuck after #3)

* toys and $
* cake
* cousins
* lighting his own candles
* customising his birthday cake
* turning 11
* going to Priesthood Preview
* advancing to 11 year old scouts
* going to see Bolt
* going out to ice cream
* riding home with Nana
Thanks to all who made his birthday so special. He has loved reading all of your comments on his b-day post!
(Carin - he said he taught Kate how to walk, not Sophie!)

happy birthday bug...

I can't believe Cameron is eleven years old!!
(That means I haven't had an afternoon to myself for 4,015 days - but more than that, it means that I have been able to be a mom to this awesome kid!)11 things I love about Cameron...
* he is smart and a great thinker
* he is my most cuddly
* he is my oldest
* he is helpful with his baby brother
* he is a good friend
* he has big, beautiful, blue eyes
* he loves to read
* he knows how to clean his own bathroom
* he is caring
* he remembers EVERYTHING (selectively)
* he loves to playMy 4 lb. little baby is growing into quite a young man! I am excited to see what he does with the responsibilities headed his way! He has taught me so much and will continue to do so, I'm sure. Happy Birthday Cameron!
We love you!

prediction...

We attended the much anticipated Pinewood Derby on Thursday night. Cameron was, once again, very creative in choosing what he wanted his car to look like. He settled for a Christmas tree once Sara and I decided a hot dog would be way too much work (much like his turtle was last year). He went for the more is more look and decorated every spot he could find! Reagan was very excited to participate in his first Pinewood Derby. He named his car "Skull Rider" before he even started working on it. He loved using the spray paint (which I just remembered I left in the back yard - better go get that before Wesley sprays his name on the back of the house and then blames it on Cameron - like he does with the pencil and the wall)! After his car was completed he said, "I hope I get first place" - that was my cue for the "it's not if you win our loose, it's how good it looks" talk.
Before they were able to race they made all of the (hyper, excited, spastic) scouts go in a different room to present Cameron with his Arrow of Light (the highest award in Cub Scouts). They did some symbolic presentation that I wasn't listening to, but by Wesley's expression, I think it stunk! Even though I wasn't paying much attention, I am extremely proud of Cameron (and myself) for working so hard and earning this award!

Finally, we were off to the races. Cameron and Reagan were able to race against each other in the first heat. The result...Cameron's car isn't blurry here because of it's super speed, just bad photography!They pretty consistently got 3rd or 4th (out of 4) in each heat, which I expected (there are some dads that spend quite a bit of time and energy getting the wheels and the weights and all the other speed stuff just right - I am not that motivated and Bill has yet to touch a car so we I am pretty happy to have it just make it down the track!).They didn't go home empty handed. Cameron received the "most festive" award and Reagan was honored with the "most realistic" award. The coolest part of the night was the race off between the final two winners. They just happened to be the U of U and BYU cars. They said best out of 3 wins (and predicts the outcome of the big game) - Utah got it done in 2!GO UTES!!!!

never too old to learn...

You can learn a few things by attending "bring your family to school lunch day"
here is what I discovered...
Cameron - he was super excited to get out of class early - he doesn't really care about food - when we got to the line there was a tray of different fruits, a tray with vegetables, a tray with jello and a tray with pizza - I asked him (the very same him who was the cafeteria worker ALL last week) if you were aloud to take something off each tray or just one?? - he didn't know (which means he has had hot lunch for 5 years now and doesn't know what his options are in line - hmmm) - he can eat REALLY fast at school (which is why he isn't in any of the pictures) - and finally, his friends are WAY more important than his mom or brothers (btw - that wasn't a shocker)!
Reagan - the days he has hot lunch are a total waste of money - he can have only ONE item on his tray and still be the last one done - he still likes having his mom there - he really likes showing off his baby brother!
Wesley - will be a good eater next year when he gets to eat at school (finished everything but the cauliflower) - he can carry a tray without spilling - he is starting to make some friends (he asked me about 4 times if he could go say "hi" to people he knew) - he is growing up so fast!
Chase - is a good lunch partner if you are super hungry (he only ate his carrots) - he is starting to enjoy being mauled by 3rd graders who think he is cute - he likes being at school - he is darn cute (well, I guess that wasn't a new discovery, but should be mentioned anyway!).
Me - it isn't easy fitting my legs under cafeteria tables any more - the square, greasy things they use to call pizza 30 years ago were just wrong - it is still fun talking to your friends during school lunch - orange jello with a dab of cool whip is yummy when you are hungry - it isn't easy getting your legs out from under cafeteria tables either!

in the army now...

Wesley is on cloud 9 - he has his cousin Braden here and they have been able to play and play and play! Yesterday as soon as he was home from school they were outside and planning the rest of their day. I told Wesley that I would take the two of them somewhere fun while the babies (Chase and Grace) were sleeping. Wesley asked Braden if he wanted to go camping or bowling - luckily Braden chose the latter - so off we went - actually there was one really important stop we had to make first - not sure if you noticed a slight imperfection on Wesley in any of the above pictures - go ahead, take another look - I know, you are thinking, "Wesley imperfect? IMPOSSIBLE!" - but, for fun, lets zoom in a bit... you see, on Sunday morning he wasn't quite satisfied with the haircut that he had the day before, so he "fixed" it. Then, my biggest fear was confirmed when I picked him up from school and his teacher asked if he got a home cut!! So, before any fun activity, it was back to his favorite hair lady! He wouldn't even get out of the car when we arrived (possibly, the "she is going to have to cut off all of your hair" threats were getting to him??). He was about in tears when he got in the chair and the cousin, that was his best friend about 10 minutes before, was getting some mean glares when he was instructing the lady on how to cut Wesley's hair. "You are going to have to buzz him, just buzz him", Braden kept telling her. Unfortunately, he was right. She started with a 3, which wasn't cutting it (well, it was cutting it, just not short enough) and then had to down size to a 2. His artwork still shows, but isn't quite as obvious. When he was done, she gave him a sucker (only if he promised to NEVER cut his own hair again) - she gave Braden one too (for being such a good assistant!). When we got back to the car, Wesley said he liked his new "army hair" - and we were off to the bowling alley! When we got there, Wesley didn't want to get out of the car (again), because he didn't want anyone to see his "army hair"! Luckily that didn't last too long and we were able to go in and have a good time. Braden had never been bowling before - after his first ball got jammed between the gutter and the bumpers... Wesley stepped in to give him a few pointers (including, how to cool your hands off with the blowing thing, how to give the ball a good granny push, how to wait behind the line when it isn't your turn and finally, how to throw it right down the middle!)We all had such a good time - the boys had perfect bowling alley manners (and I should mention that I won - without the bumpers)! Wesley is still VERY self conscious about his hair and was pretty mad when it hadn't grown back before school started this morning (I had to explain to him that it would grow back - BUT probably not until Christmas) - he will get use to it soon enough - I am definitely getting use to rubbing it when he sits beside me on the couch - and I am pretty sure it will be awhile before he cuts it himself again (I, of course, have learned to NEVER say never)!

i'm it...

did I ever mention I don't like being tagged??
Luckily for Susan, this is an easy one...
In your pictures go to your fourth folder &
pick your fourth picture

(because my pictures are super organized I had to go a little deeper)
so my 4th folder is 2007 - 4th folder in that folder is April - 4th folder in that folder is Chases b-day pictures - 4th picture (finally) in that folder is...here is a surprise, it is a picture that CARIN took (in case you were wondering, that was sarcastic - although, it is a little surprising that I actually have the picture - many that she took are sitting nicely in her super organized folders *reagan's cough baptism cough*) and, because one is NEVER enough...These pictures were taken for Chases 1st birthday party invitation and because I can never make a decision (not just picture related - I can never decide anything - ask my family) I believe I made a couple different invitations but I didn't blog then, so now I can't decide which ones to show you...and I can't decide what to write but the diaper that I am smelling right now is making a decision for me...
I'm done!
oh WAIT - I have to decide who to tag...(another 15 minute pause - this quick post is taking me an insane amount of time- and really smelling up my house)
ok, I tag, Jody, Jodi and Jill!

helpful...

It has been so nice having Reagan home this week. He would probably tell you it was a little boring, but he has been a big help to me. Every morning he would stay home with Chase so the little guy didn't have to walk to school in the cold. This morning when I got home he had not only played with Chase, but had cleaned the family room, his room and his bathroom (apparently I was chatting at the corner a little longer than I thought)! After showing me all of this he told me, "I even turned on some church music"! I am sure Chase will be sad to see him go back to school next week. As a reward I told him we could go to the field and take some pictures (I'm good, huh?) - he was SO excited to get out of the house (and pretty excited to get his picture taken as well!) He was too nervous to stand on the railroad tracks - but looks darn cute next to them! He was also very nervous to be by the gangster wall (are you more of a chicken when you have the pox??) - he really is so sweet! I am so lucky to be his mom and am so proud of the young man he is becoming!
