we come in peace (but not quiet)...

yesterday Wesley had his "fake birthday"
(which, by most, is referred to as a BIRTHDAY PARTY - but, as you know, Wesley is not like most!)
He decided on a "Monsters vs. Aliens" theme this year which was a lot of fun!
With Axel F blaring in the background, we started out the party with a few craft projectscreate a monster and decorate your very own UFO (flying in later)then we moved to the outdoors (which, to keep with the party theme, we will call Venus - it was HOT!!) where we played a little game I like to call "ginormica bowling"!Next we were off to the main attraction - the Monster Water Slide!
And speaking of "monsters", what happened to ladies first, gentlemen?
(maybe the next party will have to include a little class on etiquette)while energy ran amuck on the water slide, the innocent kicked back at the pool!these two melted my heart (while the sun was melting my flip flops)
Once everyone was sufficiently cooled off, it was back to the games!next up, "hot meteorite"
this is a cool little ball that you put a water balloon in and then crank the dial - when the times up the balloon bursts and if you are the one holding it you are out!
Not everyone caught on to the concept...the last game of the day was the P.D.F.O (personally decorated flying object) toss watch out!The kids stopped playing long enough to sing happy birthday, have a cupcakeand tear through the presents - then it was back to the water!
As we said goodbye, there was a balloon and a goody bag for everyone to takeand the cutest monster I know had a day that was out of this world!!!!Happy "fake" birthday Wesley!!
(and a special thanks to Aunt Carin for taking pictures of the creatures - it wouldn't have flowed so smoothly without your help! I owe you - want one of my boys as payment? I get to pick which one!)

yummm...

Last week went with some neighbors to Mrs. Cavanaugh's chocolate factory for a tour! The tour wasn't the most exciting thing I have ever seen, but the real reason we went was for the free samples anyway - and that did not disappoint! We filled the store up with excited kids (which I am sure was frightening for the workers) who couldn't wait to get their hands on some candy! Wesley wanted a gummy tarantula - they always want them but never like them - so, I told him he could get it but it might bite his tongue and then he won't be able to talk anymore. He decided on a train sucker instead. I bought these yummy cherry sour things that I didn't hide well enough, but they were good while they lasted! Right before we left Wesley asked if he could get a treat for Cameron (who didn't come because he was in trouble) too! I remember thinking how thoughtful that was of Wesley (you all probably know better - he blinds me) until we reached the counter to pay and Wesley handed me the tarantula and said, "so, if Cameron eats this he won't be able to talk again?"!
On the way home, my friend Bobette and I got ourselves a Village Baker sandwich (my fav) and took the kids to McDonald's play land to get the energy out! It was a yummy day!
(I took my camera out kinda late so I only got a picture of about half the kids who were there - I will bring it out first thing on our next outing!!)

lavender blue?

dilly dilly...
On Friday night Carin and I took our families to Mona, Ut. to see the lavender fields -
and it was worth the drive!
When we arrived we walked around Young Living Farms, taking pictures and letting the kids explore. Everything is so pretty there! Then we went across the street to see the lavender - it is gorgeous! There were rows and rows of the stuff - it smelt wonderful!Apparently you have to be initiated in order to truly experience the beauty that is lavender.
Initiated by mosquitoes!!!
I ended up with as many mosquito bites as I did pictures - and I take a lot of pictures!!
While many of us that were there got attacked, for some reason I stood out! Mosquitoes have always liked me, I figured it was because I was sweet, but thought I should do some research just to be sure. In my studies I came across some UNRELIABLE theories...something about larger people, blah blah blah, 85% hereditary (thanks dad), blah blah blah, smelly breath (apparently, carbon dioxide from your heavy breathing -which of course you will be breathing heavy if you are "larger" and just walked all the way across the street- draws them closer), blah blah blah, (so does the lactic acid pouring from your sweat glands)...
I stopped there - what does medicinenet.com know anyway! One thing I did find interesting (and believable) was that the female
requires one blood meal for each batch of eggs...
one batch = 200 eggs
70 bites x 200 eggs =
I just birthed 14,000 baby mosquitoes (larva, if you will) and
mosquitoes are responsible for more human death than any other living creature
sorry!I try to look at it as, once again, a sacrifice for my children!
*update - I just realized, that the odds are, I'd probably have all boy mosquitoes and they don't bite - only the female (more dominant) ones do! So, I am not nearly as sorry as I was last night!*

and we'll have fun fun fun...

Our goal was to fill every minute with FUN while Becky and Matt were here!
I think we may have accomplished the task...
the zoo...

the pool...When it comes to the pool, Chase & Wesley are like night and day...

Lagoon...

Do you think Bill would play less if he knew what his "game face" looks like?
not a chance! We lost Cameron for a short period of time during the evening -
when we found him he was on the swings...now that I look at the picture, maybe rather than yelling at him, I should have been grateful he wasn't abducted by aliens!
bbq and more fireworks...the park...

the only sad thing was saying goodbye!

independence day....

We had a fun filled fourth!
Our day started at the movie theatre watching Ice Age, followed by a Jamba Juice for lunch (the boys favorite!). Bill's sister Becky and her family were staying with us from Ohio and we had been on the go for a few days, so after lunch we just came back to our house and let the kids play outside on the water slide while we played Ticket to Ride. Then Bill and Matt kept the babies while Becky and I and the older (5-11 year old) kids went to the Stadium of Fire!

There was so much to see! I, however, spent more of my time watching the kids expressions then watching the actual show! I think the guy jumping a rope of fire on a unicycle was the older boys favorite part (aside from the fireworks!), but Wesley's favorite was...the Jonas Brothers!
After their first song he yelled and clapped and then put both of his hands in the air, fingers formed in the "I love you" sign and screamed, "that was awesome!". When he wasn't busy clapping he was asking for the camera back with a "mom, I gotta get a picture of that" each time one of them moved! The fireworks were the highlight of the night for me -
I LOVE watching, hearing and smelling fireworks! After the show we hung around awhile to chat with another of Bill's sister, Kristy, to get details on the brand new HARLEY she won at the beginning of the night, while the boys played around on the bleachers looking for lost treasures!
Another late great night! Thanks Kristy for inviting us!
